🛑 “Don’t Sleep on the Shinkansen!”

Many travelers sleep from Tokyo to Kyoto. That is a massive waste of XP! (Experience Points)
Nagoya is a Hidden Dungeon. Walk inside a Ghibli movie, eat the best food in Japan, and see the future of trains.

Most people skip Nagoya. Big mistake! I have created a 2-Day Strategy to conquer the castle, Ghibli, and the unique food culture.

🚅 Logistics: The “Stopover” Trap

Warning: You cannot just hop off with a regular ticket. You must buy a ticket specifically to “NAGOYA”.

🚅 Book Shinkansen to NAGOYA

⚠️ Critical Luggage Warning:

If you have a large suitcase (over 160cm total), you MUST reserve a seat with an “Oversized Baggage Area”. Do not ignore this!

🎮 Plan B: Osu Shopping St.

The “Real Akihabara.” Retro games, vintage clothes, and street food chaos.

If you chose Plan B: Osu District

Osu Shopping District Maneki Neko
The giant “Maneki Neko” (Beckoning Cat) is the symbol of Osu.

Osu is a mix of traditional temples and otaku culture. Visit Mandarake for retro anime goods and eat street food in the arcade.

❓ Hachi’s FAQ: Rain, Tattoos & Onsen

Q. It’s raining. Is Nagoya boring?

A. No! Nagoya is the “King of Indoor Fun.”

  • SCMAGLEV Park: See real bullet trains indoors.
  • Toyota Museum: Learn about cars and engineering.
  • Osu Shopping Street: It’s a covered arcade. No umbrella needed!

Q. Can I use Onsen with Tattoos?

A. It’s difficult in Nagoya. Unlike Hakone, Nagoya is a business city, not a hot spring resort. Public baths (Sento) often ban tattoos.
Solution: Book a hotel with a nice private bath or shower (like Nikko Style). Do not go to public baths unless they say “Tattoo OK” explicitly.

🎒 Inventory Management: Travel Light!

Japanese hotels provide “God-tier” hospitality. Don’t wander through the dungeon with heavy luggage (debuffs)!

❌ Don’t Pack (Leave these at home!)

  • Hair Dryers: Voltage difference will break it. Do NOT bring it.
  • Shampoo & Soap: Provided everywhere.

⚠️ Tutorial: 8 Iron Rules for Survival

1. 📦 The Luggage Trap
Coin lockers at Nagoya Station fill up by 9 AM. Go to the Sagawa Service Center instead.

2. 🍃 Ghibli Rules
Tickets are reservation-only. You cannot buy them at the gate. Be punctual!

3. 📶 Oxygen for Explorers (eSIM)
Google Maps is essential. Don’t rely on free WiFi.

4. 🚄 Shinkansen Reservations
For large luggage, reserve the “Oversized Baggage Seat”.

5. 💳 The IC Card (Suica/Pasmo)
Works on all Nagoya trains and buses. Use Apple Wallet.

6. 💴 Cash is King
Osu street food stalls often only accept cash. Carry 10,000+ JPY.

7. 🍤 Food Portions
Nagoya food is heavy (Miso/Fried). Pace yourself or bring stomach medicine.

8. 🔌 Power Check
Japan uses Type A (2-pin) plugs. Bring an adapter.
